Tour Description
Explore the world's largest Sand Island on this 5 day camping adventure through Fraser Island's unique ecosystems. Daily trips by 4WD, support the most extensive walking tour on Fraser Island. Visit 'off the beaten path' wilderness habitats, or simply relax. With over 20 years experience your local friendly tour guide and driver will allow you to see more and do more than any other tour company. Travel in small groups (less than 10) and see more wildlife, and remote areas with less people.
Camping is a must on Fraser Island and 80% of travelers and Aussies go camping, so should you! Forget the resorts. Our beach campsites, have hot showers and toilets, great tents, with mattress and sleeping bags supplied FREE! The Dilli Village Beach Campsite allow for more time in the National Park.

Day 1 (Includes afternoon tea and dinner)
Meet and Greet your friendly eco-tour guide driver before departing Brisbane, and travel north on the Bruce Highway via the Sunshine Coast and Noosa. Traveling north along the Cooloola Coast, witness the wonder of Red Gorge and the Cooloola Coloured Sands, before seeing spotting Double Island Point Lighthouse and National Park.
Early Lunch stop at Rainbow Beach. Take time to relax, visit the local beach to swim overlooking coloured sands or wander through the local shops. We depart via 4WD to Inskip Point lookout. View Hervey Bay and Tin Can Bay in the distance before travelling the 4WD track across to the ferry departure point.
As we cross the calm but deep waters spot dolphins, turtles, sharks, and stingrays whilst photography Fraser Island's west coast. Hear stories from your guide about history, formation and local tales as you 4WD the southern end of the world's largest sand island. 4WD along the beach to Hook Point and the freshwater creeks running into the Pacific Ocean. Travel along Fraser's majestic 75 mile Ocean Surf Beach to Govi Creek and Dilli Beach Fraser Island - "The Start of the Great Walk on Fraser Island - The camp is already setup with a great safe fenced camp area only 500 metres from the surf beach onto set up camp in the forest. The afternoon is a 4WD tour to Lake Wabby - Barrage Lake formed when a mobile Sand dune dams a fresh water creek.
The group enjoys a forest hike 5 km return. This is a favourite as the walk covers 5 different coastal environments. This lake is also Fraser Island's deepest Lake and has the most number of freshwater fish. Take time to relax and enjoy the afternoon serenity, before returning to the 75 mile surf beach - enjoy a walk on the deserted beach before your guide 4WDs the group back to the southern campsite. Freshen up as the guide lights the fire and you can enjoy a chip and dip and cold drink around the camp fire - recalling stories of the day. Information board and free maps at camp, Flora and fauna list (Wildlife and plant lists) on show at camp. Tonight for dinner we have BBQ fish with salads, breads, fresh fruits. soft drinks, orange juices, tea and coffee supplied. (BYO Alcohol).
Day 2 (includes breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner)
Start the day with a healthy breakfast before starting the southern Great Walk on Fraser Island to Lake Boomanjin (the worlds largest perched lake). As you pass the coastal heath swaps and pioneers and coastal woodlands, lookout for Kangaroo, Goannas, bandicoots and bar shouldered doves. As you enter the mixed forest and wallum woodlands spot scribbly gums and the reddish trunks of the smooth-barked apple tree or the corky bark of the banksias.
The tea-coloured waters of Lake Boomanjin are stained brown by organic compounds from decaying vegetation, this forms a base for the lake to hold water. Enjoy morning tea in the forest after this great walk under the shade of Pink Bloodwood trees and Moreton Bay Ash. Your guide with the group will 4WD pass Lake Benaroon to Lake Birrabeen. This wonderful lake has great white sandy beaches. Swim, relax or walk the saucer-shaped beaches and dunes. Enjoy the natural surrounds of the lake.
The next hike is into the Rainforest pass Lake Jennings. The cool air of the rainforest awaits over the hills as we pass old logging forest, hoop pine plantation and unique landscapes. Prepare for the beauty of Central Station Rainforest. Lunch is ready on your arrival with ham salads, breads,fresh fruits and cold drinks. This stop is a wildlife highlight. The many birds of the rainforest can be heard calling. Spot goannas, dingos, eels and fish in the world heritage national park surround by the largest and rare Satinay Trees.
Be guided through this unique ecosystem and learn about the natural wildlife of the rain forest. Enjoy the Wangoolba Creek boardwalk; Photography the amazing King Ferns; Take the Pile Valley hike into the remote rainforest. Return to information display one of the best on the island. Your guide with than allow the group to hike or 4WD into Lake McKenzie via Basin Lake. This last hike or drive completes the southern Great Walk for today.
Return to camp via Eurong township and 75 Mile Surf Beach. Aussie BBQ with Hamburgers, sausages, salads and drinks for dinner awaits around the campfire. Tonight is star gazing with marshmallows around the campfire.
Day 3 (includes breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner)
Your local guide has a beach day planned with a early start will allow more time for further explorations. As we 4WD the beach early morning a favourite time for Dingos, sea eagles and fishing persons stop a One Tree Point and Rainbow Gorge coloured sands and learn about the flora and fauna, Fraser islands famous Coffee rock and stories of the island early townships - Happy Valley. The first stop is at Eli Creek, the largest and fastest flowing creek on the East Coast. We spend time walking the creek boardwalk, along the banks of the river, swim relax in the shady and enjoy morning tea. The group the hikes along the beach to the shipwreck of the 'Maheno'.
The next section of the Great Walk is completed by 4WD through the rainforest, to see the tortoises at Lake Allom. The 1.4km circuit is surrounded by Kauri pine forest, Tall Satinay and Hoop pines, still growing in the their natural state. The drive along the beach, features the high coloured cliffs of The Cathedrals.
Explore Dundubara campsite or hike to Wungal Sandblow. Throughout the afternoon, enjoy beach fishing or a stroll along the beach, before dinner around the campfire. Tonight is a beach explore if the tides and weather is perfect, spot the ghost crabs, pied oyster catchers and hear the curlews sing.
Day 4 (includes breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner)
Today is our chance to do the Northern Great Walk. This beach hike walk is great after 2 Days of inland hikes. 4WD with your guide past the Cathedral Beach township north to experience the adventure of Indian Head, and gaze over the beach to the south, the headlands to the north, and see the turtles, sharks and rays below, and even Humpback whales (when in season).
Enjoy morning tea and cold drinks at the base of the headland. The next walk is along the sand track to the beach. Travel from the beach to the car park boardwalk. This boardwalk is situated on top of Middle Rock Headland, Great views of Indian Head, Champagne Pools, Waddy Point and marine wildlife. Swim and snorkel in the Champagne Pools, before taking the beach hike to Waddy Point. Walk along the saddle through low developing coastal woodlands to the advancing edge of Binngih Sanblow. Venturing further north to Orchid Beach. Dinner is served around the campfire tonight.
Day 5 (includes breakfast, morning tea)
Today we enjoy a short hike to the freshwater of Govi Creek. This short walk on the track between melaleucas and sedges across the wooden bridge to the beach, Travel 2km north to the mouth of the creek, Return via the old sand mining track. Before leaving, cast a line into the surf, or hike to the coastal cliffs to watch the sun rise, or take a stroll along the beach. Enjoy a Coffee, tea or cold drink in the shady around the campsite. Tides permitting enjoy the last day by hiking the southern tip of Fraser island or the south western corner of the island with views of Hervey Bay and Surrounds. Regretfully, it is time to return to civilization. Then the final run down the rugged Fraser coastline, before returning to the barge and the waiting mainland.
